Short videos from our trips

Allahabad 2013 - India

We have visited Maha Kumbh Mela 2013 in Allahabad for 2 days - 24. and 25. of February 2013. Kumbh Mela is the greatest pilgrimage and festival in the Hindu religion which occurs once in 12 years attracting participants from around the globe to take a dip in the holy waters of Ganga, Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati. For us the Kumbh Mela was definitely a life changing experience where a person can fill the spiritual void he or she experiences in the humdrum of busy urban life.

Shwedagon pagoda - Yangon, Myanmar

Gleaming in gold and decorated with diamonds, the huge Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon is a spectacular work of Burmese temple architecture and is the holiest Buddhist shrine in Myanmar. The pagoda dates back about 2500 years and was built to house the eight sacred hairs of the Buddha. The central stupa is 107m high and is covered with about 60 tonnes of gold leaf. The gilded hti at the top is hung with gold and silver bells and studded with gems. The Shwedagon Pagoda is revered by the Burmese Buddhists because it is said to contain the relics of all four Enlightened Buddhas not just the relics of the present Gautama Buddha

Chaukhtatgyi Temple - Yangon, Myanmar

The little known Chaukhtatgyi Temple has one of the biggest and most graceful Reclining Buddha statues in South East Asia. We have seen a lot of Reclining Buddha statues while travelling around South East Asia over the last few years. The reclining Buddha is a common motif in the temples and holy places of Thailand, Sri Lanka and Myanmar and perhaps the most famous example is the spectacular golden Reclining Buddha at Wat Po in Bangkok, which itself is absolutely huge. I think, although I am not sure, that the Reclining Buddha at Chaukhtatgyi is even bigger than the one found in Wat Po, and apparently the biggest Reclining Buddha of all we have already seen.

Sri Lanka - Ancient places

This short movie includes some of the main interesting ancient places in Sri Lanka. Dambulla cave temples contain the beautifull statues and painting. This caves was used by the monks as mediation location. Sigiriya rock (also called Lions rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. Some dagobas were shooted in Anuradhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka established in the 4th century BC that remained the Royal Capital for over ten centuries. There is also short movie from sightseeing of Mihintale rock cave temple.

Varanasi - India

Holy city and epi-centre of spirituality in India. We spent there 2 days and were absolutely excited by chaos and noise in the streets, by thousands of devotees taking a ritual dip in the river Ganga every morning and of course by sacred atmosphere of cremation ceremony.
